About Maxie Carpenter
Maxie Carpenter was formerly Vice President of the People & Training Divisions for Wal-Mart Stores. After a 27-year career, he began to pursue a number of other interests, which included education, consulting, writing and public speaking.Mr. Carpenter co-founded the first charter school in the state of Arkansas (Benton County School of the Arts) and served as the school's Administrator for the first year of its inception. He is a member of the Executive Council of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) for John Brown University, an Adjunct Professor in the Business College for John Brown University, and an Adjunct Professor in the Sam Walton College of Business for the University of Arkansas. Mr. Carpenter's primary focus has been to assist the Small Business Community with Business Planning, Start-up and Sustainability, and the Nonprofit Community with Strategic Planning, Board of Directors Development and Executive Director Development. He is currently the Director of Operations for the Samaritan Community Centers, a member of the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance and a member of the Board of Directors of Circle of Life Hospice & Palliative Care.Mr. Carpenter, has written numerous articles for trade journals and other relevant media and has published two books: "I Didn't Ask You to Dance! I Asked You to Talk" and "Managing Difficult People in the Workplace."As a Public Speaker, Mr. Carpenter is recognized as a subject-matter expert on a number of topics that include, but are not limited to, Servant Leadership, Organizational Culture, Leading Change, Building Teams, Ethical Decision-Making, and Strategic Thinking.
