Bashi, Elephant Baby
By Theresa RadcliffeLittle Bashi is full of milk and wants to go right to sleep, but he has to keep on walking in order to keep up with the herd. After a while, the elephants reach a watering hole, where Bashi plays and gets stuck in the mud. Suddenly, two fearsome lionesses appear. Bashi's mother and grandmother have to fight to protect him. Bashi is very frightened, but he knows his family is there to keep him safe. Lush, glowing illustrations beautifully depict the African plain.
