About Jean Laws
Born to immigrant Hungarian and Italian parents in the bucolic agricultural Santa Clara Valley, California, then known as The Valley of Hearts Delight, Jean loved to tell stories of riding the bus to school through miles and miles blooming of apricot and plum orchards. She attended Willow Glen High School and graduated from San Jose State University with Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees, both with distinction. Her working career included service as a nurse (she maintained her SRN credentials until a few months before she died), a medical writer at Syntex Corporation, and a paralegal at Wilson Sonsini in Palo Alto. Jean lived with her husband David and sons Matthew and Mark in Portola Valley, California for nearly 40 years before moving to Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula where she passed away in December 2021.
