About Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong (born Lance Edward Gunderson) is a retired American professional road racing cyclist. He had won the Tour de France seven consecutive times, from 1999 to 2005, but in 2012 he was disqualified from all his results since August 1998 for using and distributing performance-enhancing drugs and banned from professional cycling for life. His cancer treatments included brain and testicular surgery and extensive chemotherapy.
In 1999, he was named the American Broadcasting Company's Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year. In 2002, Sports Illustrated magazine named him Sportsman of the Year.
