About Jared R. Stallones
Jared Stallones was born in California and attended schools in Lafayette, California and Houston, Texas. He entered the University of Texas in 1975 and earned a B.A. in the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program. Stallones taught middle school and high school social studies in Austin, Texas from 1980-1999, earning the M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction and the Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction along the way.
From 1999 to 2000, Dr. Stallones served as Assistant Professor of History Education at California State University, Fresno. In 2000, he returned to Austin to serve as Academic Director of Grace Covenant Christian School. In 2002, Dr. Stallones moved to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he has served as Coordinator of the Secondary Teacher Credential Program and Chair of the Department of Education. He currently serves as Professor of Education and University Coordinator of Secondary Teacher Education at California State University, Long Beach.
Dr. Stallones has served as in leadership of the California Council for the Social Studies, the National Council for the Social Studies, the Society for the Study of Curriculum History, and the Organization of Educational Historians. He is the author of numerous articles on education policy, history, and practice. He has also authored Zebulon Pike and the Explorers of the American Southwest (1991), Paul Robert Hanna: A Life of Expanding Communities (2002), and Conflciat and Resolution: Progressive Educators and the Question of Religion (2010).
